If that doesn't work, I think you can find it by clicking my screen name! The photos are up! They aren't very good (I can't find the original photos so I had to copy what I'd saved on Shutterfly), but you can get a glimpse of what the camp looks like (or looked like six years ago - I think most of it is still there. Lizziest_of_lizzies.looking forward to your postings of this locale! I have a few photos I took through the fence back in 2003 or so - I'll post those sometime. Most of the structures are gone now, but a few cabins remain, as well as the dining hall and Meetin House. If you look up that intersection, you'll probably get better directions than I'd give you, but if you can find the intersection of Blue Star Hwy and 77th, head north on 77th and it won't be far. If you look at Mapquest's aerial map or Google's aerial map, you can still tell where things were! The southern boundary road is 18th Ave., and the eastern boundary road is 77th St. Yes, you can get to the site - I usually drive by when I'm in South Haven. (apriljwatkins, since I commented on this also, I got notification when you commented.)

When I'm in South Haven, I usually drive past to look at what is left, and it is depressing. I loved Pilgrim Haven, and have many fond memories and not enough photographs. After that, our church's retreats were held elsewhere, and we didn't go back till the farewell weekend in the spring of 1986, which my parents were part of planning (allowing my sister and myself plenty of time to run around and enjoy the camp one last time). I think the last year we camped there was 1984. I would love to see any photos and hear stories about Pilgrim Haven! My parents and some of their siblings attended and worked at the camp in the 50's/60's, and my parents, sister and I went to church retreats and summer camps there in the early 80's - the end of its life as a camp. I had a smile on my face, especially with your family photographs. I also *hate* that the place has gone to seed.

Thanks so much for this series! I've got some old snapshots in the attic - if anyone wants to see more of these. Announcements, announcements, announcements!"Īnd I wish there was a picture of the vespers area on the bluff overlooking the lake. I'd forgotten "(name) strong and able, get your elbows off the table" but do you remember waiting in line singing "a terrible death to die, a terrible death to die, a terrible death to be talked to death, a terrible death to die. I don't know what made me think about Pilgrim Haven this morning.
